Job Title: Non-Medical Companion/Companion with transportation

Job Summary: Better Together YYC Companion, Transportation & Advocacy is seeking a compassionate and reliable Non-Medical Caregiver & Driver to provide companionship, assistance, and safe transportation for clients. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, offering support, and ensuring clients remain engaged in their daily lives while maintaining their independence.
Responsibilities:
Provide companionship and engage in meaningful conversation
Assist with light household tasks (e.g., meal prep, tidying up, laundry)
Offer support with errands such as grocery shopping, pharmacy visits, and other outings
Safely transport clients to appointments, social activities, and other destinations
Lift & transfer mobility aides into and out of vehicle (must be comfortable lifting up to 30lbs using safe lifting and transportation techniques)
Change batteries in devices (smoke alarms, remote controls, hearing aides etc.)
Promote a positive and supportive environment for clients
Maintain clear and professional communication with clients and their families
Curiosity, positive outlook, motivating and engaging demeanor
Confidence and composure in new environments

Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Reliable and insured vehicle suitable for transporting clients
Previous experience in caregiving, customer service, or a related field is a plus
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Patient, compassionate, and dependable
Ability to pass a background check
Clear written and verbal communication skills in English
